Colorado Nonprofit Association honors Mary Anne Harvey
Mary Anne receives the William Funk Award for Building Stronger Communities.

Denver, CO – The Colorado Nonprofit Association presents Mary Anne Harvey, Executive Director of The Legal Center for People with Disabilities & Older People with the William Funk Award for Building Stronger Communities. She will receive the award at the Colorado Nonprofit Week Awards Luncheon March 12th.
Randy Chapman, Director of Legal Services for The Legal Center, describes his more than 30 year partnership saying, “Colorado residents have greatly benefitted from Mary Anne’s thirty years of leadership at The Legal Center and in the nonprofit community. Mary Anne has played a major role in our growth from of staff of six and an annual budget of $150,000 to twenty- eight staff and an annual budget of $2,200,000. She established the Legal Center’s award-winning Mighty Rights Press which educates parents, teachers and nursing home residents and staff about the rights of people and provides a source of earned income.”
Mary Anne Harvey has more than 35 years in management and leadership of human service organizations. In addition to Executive Director of The Legal Center for People with Disabilities and Older People since 1980, she has been active in the National Disability Rights Network (NDRN) as a former Board member, past president, and trainer, developing the orientation NDRN sponsors for new executive directors across the country and helping develop national standards and outcome measurements for protection and advocacy systems.
Mary Anne’s dedication to the community includes co-chair of the Public Policy Committee on the Board of the Colorado Nonprofit Association in 2009 and 2010, and earlier board chair from 1991 and 1992. In addition, she is a past president of the board of directors of the Center for Nonprofit Excellence and Warren Villages as well as a founder of the Executive Leadership Institute, which supports the professional development of a group of peers from non-competing organizations and serves as a forum for creative problem-solving.
The William Funk Award for Building Stronger Communities was established in 1991 to honor leaders who can unify people and organizations around a common cause and is sponsored by the Boettcher Foundation.
