Special Education

The Legal Center believes that everyone in the community benefits when children with disabilities are educated alongside their peers in neighborhood schools. The Individuals with Disabilities Education Act (IDEA) guarantees a free, appropriate and inclusive education. Legal Center staff has provided assistance to numerous families seeking to obtain an inclusive education for their children. Hundreds more served as their own advocates using The Everyday Guide to Special Education Law and the Spanish/English version, Guía De La Ley De Educación Especial.

The Everyday Guide to Special Education Law, Second Edition

The second edition of The Everyday Guide to Special Education Law, by Randy Chapman, was published in 2008.  It is an essential tool for parents to help them get the best education possible for their child with disabilities.  This book is also a great resource for teachers and school administrators.
