Colorado State Long-Term Care
Ombudsman Program

1. To support and advocate for an environment in long-term care facilities where residents, families, staff, and community can live and work together in a way that puts people first and focuses on caring for the whole person.

2. Visit nursing homes and personal care boarding homes in the state and assist residents and family members in resolving issues relating to care and residents' rights.

3. In addition, the program provides:

  • Information and assistance to consumers on choosing a long-term care facility.
  • Education on residents' rights for facility staff, residents and the community.
  • Advocacy for needed improvement in legislation and policies affecting the long-term care residents.
